Dandruff, also known as seborrhea, is a common scalp disease that most people suffer from. Most common among the adolescent, dandruff can also affect any age group. This problem of dandruff occurs when the old skin cells are shed at a faster rate compared to the normal rate that is required to replace them with new cells. Many assumptions have been made towards what causes dandruff. Different reasons have been found which are behind this dandruff problem. These reasons include, dry scalp due to lack of moisture or use of sodium Lauretha sulfate shampoo, which causes an allergic reaction in the skin.  Most of the people at one time in life have tried different types of dandruff treatment. The dandruff problem is not only serious but becomes embarrassing and also irritating.

Lemon and Coconut Oil Massage

The Lemon’s citric property works perfectly in the reduction of dandruff over time. For lemon and coconut massage, you are required to heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and mix with an equal amount of lemon juice. Gently massage on your scalp, and leave it for about 20 minutes. Rinse it off in order to get effective results. Do these 4 times weekly for a few weeks and you will see the results.

Eat Yogurt

Research shows that dietary supplements contain healthy bacteria and hence consuming these probiotics helps in getting rid of dandruff. Plain yogurt is the best since it also encourages yeast growth. Probiotic supplements help with better nutrients absorption from food, keeping your skin healthy. Small amounts of fungus live on our scalp. They feed on the dead skin and normally the skin’s good bacteria keep the fungus in check. Now the problem occurs during the balancing of the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ organism.


Baking Soda

When it comes to fighting dandruff, an old baking ingredient is the best and helps a lot. A spoonful of baking soda is enough. Rub it through in your wet hair and through the scalp. Leave it for about a minute, then wash it off. Repeat this four times in a week for some weeks. The results are guaranteed but this will take time to appear.

Use A Shower Filter

Use of hard water makes the dandruff problem to be worse. The building up of cal and mineral deposits, the flakes and itch will not change. Use of acidic hair rinse can help in fighting the hard water. It removes the mineral build up. In another way, you can also install a water filter in order to give you water that is cal-free.

You need 1 whole banana and 2 cups of apple cider vinegar. It also works well with one tablespoon of coconut water too. Put the peeled banana in a tumbler and add the apple cider vinegar. Stir the mixture to get a smooth paste. After shampooing your hair, apply the mixture and massage it into your scalp, make sure it covers your hair and then leave it for some minutes. Finally, rinse with water.
